Very true, in 2006 the beach was slightly eroded, in 2007 we could not believe it, the sand edges were over our heads in front of the Riu Palace. Good video once again, very timely. Like you said, I’m sure this is changing the reef as well. How sad. If the ocean goes, we go. We are all connected. When are we as a species going to do our part. We take and take from the earth it is time to give back!

Very sad video…I was in that exact location about 8 years ago…and yes, I do remember the beautiful beaches. I can’t even imagine it looking like this now.

heres the answer.. well.. first of all.. i lived in cancun and worked for the riu.. anyways.. the reson why the sand is getting washed away its because when hurricane wilma hitted cancun.. it took tons of sand banks with it.. so now all the sand taken in that hurricane was left in isla blanca.. about 1:45 away from playacar.. the government invested millions of pesos to bring all the sand that was taken, back to its original place..but the seas asks for its belongings..and once again..its gone

Thanks for the information/explanation. We had wondered what the Government had done. Had no idea they had made such an effort.

Ya were definitely going through some majour changes in this world really quickly. And it seems like all anyone wants to do is talk about it but do nothing to stop it. I think its up to major corporations to start doing something because the average human dosnt have the power/money to do it themselves.

Some people think in 2012 a planet called nibiru with an eliptical orbit is going to orbit the sun and thats the reason for all the recent changes. hell if i know but i hope things get better!

I love the beach so much, and this hotel. How exactly is the beach being washed away?

  • riupalacereview says:

just got back, the big bags of sand used to counteract the erosion are terrible to look at…. bummer, i wish i had spent my money in America……

I consider the sign of the times. The earth
is getting ready to purge itself somehow.
Remember Noah and the flood. Something
is getting ready to happen. It’s not the work
of planet x they call nibiru. I think a great
    revelation is about to happen.

I came to the iberostar tucan the first few weeks it opened. My wife Angela says it was in one of the most wonerful places on earth. We had a cruise about 4 years ago stopped in at cozumel and visited xcaret. I sometimes have to look away when they show you on tv news ice caps melting because of climate change but didnt realise that beaches also get eroded no wonder some people are protesting about the change to our beautiful planet.Good luck to them

this doesnt have anything to do with global warming
    i was there in 2007 and 2008
in 2007 the beaches were huge like you said..but in 2008 they were not because a hurricane had just hit the area..
they told us something about the tides changed after the hurricane and that it would soon settle
this doesnt have anything to do with global warming

yes the reef is changing due to global warming, but what you saw wasnt totally due to global warming
