Question by Dennis: what happened to the Mayan civilization? and are there known ancesters?
I have heard that the Mayan indians built incredible pyramids and cities, and then just vanished into thin air without a trace, is this a true fact?

Not less than 1.5 million people in southern Mexico, the Yucatan, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, speak the Mayan language, and have preserved the Mayan culture.

    Cortes, that’s what happened to them.

    NO the people are with us and still speak and even cling to some of the old customs. The grandeur of the ancient civilization are gone,the people have survived.

    Maya people are still here in Alive today, in Mexico, Guatemala Belize and elsewhere

    The Maya People abandoned their cities around 1500AD to live in the small villages spread across the jungle. Eventually disease and famine killed off a lot of the population. Because of this it seems that they simply vanished. There are in fact many Mayan tribes and villages still in Southern Mexico and Central America. I have met and lived with one such tribe in Northern Guatemala. They are great people and still respect and treasure their ancestor’s traditions.
